El origen del grupo sueco de black metal Mithotyn está en la banda Cerberus (1992). Bajo el nuevo nombre grabarían tres álbumes: In the Sign of the Ravens, King of the Distant Forest, Gathered Around the Oaken Table. 

El grupo se disolvió oficialmente en 1999, convirtiéndose en una banda de culto en el contexto viking/pagan/black/death; algunos miembros de la banda pasaron a formar parte de  Falconer y King of Asgard.

Ahora se ha publicado un álbum con todas sus grabaciones (33 temas), que aquí puede escucharse de manera gratuita (y legal).
